Tyger Waterfront. Salary R60k – no benefits
Our client is an established property development group involved in residential, commercial and mixed-use developments, construction and related property transactions. We are seeking a practical, organised and commercially minded Legal Advisor to join their team at their offices in Tyger Waterfront – must be fluent in English & Afrikaans.
Minimum Requirements
- LLB degree.
- Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
- At least five years’ post-admission experience.
- Experience in commercial contract drafting and general legal advisory work.
- Good knowledge of commercial, corporate and property law.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Key Responsibilities
General Legal Support
- Provide legal advice and guidance to management and internal departments.
- Assist with the implementation of the Group’s policies, procedures and business practices.
- Identify and assist in managing legal, commercial and compliance risks.
- Draft and review legal correspondence, notices and general corporate documents.
- Liaise with external attorneys, conveyancers, consultants and other stakeholders.
- Assist with the management of litigation and disputes.
Commercial and Property Matters
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial and property-related agreements, including:
- agreements of sale;
- lease agreements;
- construction and service agreements;
- loan and security agreements;
- confidentiality agreements; and
- addenda and related documents.
- Provide legal support in relation to property acquisitions, disposals and developments.
- Review title deeds, servitudes, land-use approvals and conveyancing documents.
- Liaise with conveyancers regarding transfers, subdivisions, consolidations and sectional-title matters.
- Assist with homeowners’ association and body corporate matters.
Corporate Governance
- Draft board and shareholder resolutions.
- Assist with company secretarial and governance matters.
- Maintain corporate records and assist with beneficial ownership requirements.
- Review memoranda of incorporation, shareholders’ agreements and other governance documents.
Human Resources
- Draft appointment letters, employment contracts, warnings, notices and employee correspondence.
- Monitor probation periods and assist management with performance-related matters.
- Arrange disciplinary hearings and assist with disciplinary processes.
- Provide support in relation to dismissals, retrenchments and employee grievances.
- Maintain and assist with the implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Attend to general HR and employment-related queries.
Advantageous
- Admission as a Conveyancer.
- Experience within the property-development or property industry.
- Experience in conveyancing, sectional-title or homeowners’ association matters.
- Experience in company secretarial and employment-law matters.
