Job Summary
Our client is looking for a SAIPA Trainee Accountant who will be responsible for gaining practical accounting experience while completing a SAIPA-accredited learnership. This position forms part of a three-year SAIPA learnership, during which the trainee gains practical experience in accounting, taxation, financial reporting, and business advisory services while working towards qualifying as a Professional Accountant (SA)
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and process financial transactions accurately.
- Prepare monthly bookkeeping up to trial balance.
- Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Assist with income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and close corporations.
- Prepare and reconcile payroll and statutory returns (PAYE, UIF, SDL).
- Perform bank, creditor, debtor, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Assist with budgeting and cash flow preparation.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and client files.
- Support audit and independent review engagements where applicable.
- Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and South African tax legislation.
- Liaise professionally with clients, SARS, banks, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality of client and company information.
- Complete the SAIPA logbook and training requirements as prescribed.
- Perform any other accounting and administrative duties assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements
- B.Com degree or similar or a SAIPA-accredited qualification.
- Eligible to register for or currently registered as a SAIPA trainee.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and taxation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or Pastel will be advantageous.

This Bookkeeper/Financial Assistant will be reporting to the Managing Director. Supporting the financial administration of our client. This role offers practical, hands-on experience in financial systems, compliance, and funding structures within a professional non-profit arts organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with bookkeeping and accurate financial record keeping
- Capture and maintain financial data using systems such as QuickBooks and Excel
- Support invoice processing, payments, and expense tracking
- Help compile and maintain an asset management register
- Assist with payroll administration, including salaries and related documentation
- Support the processing of government supplier management requirements, SARS e-filing, CCT database and BBBEE requirements, etc.
- Assist in drawing up quotes, contracts and invoices
