UNFORTUNATELY, THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED. The key responsibilities of this job form an integral part of the overall enterprise data management function. The Data Quality Specialist’s role is to ensure that: 

1) Data Quality is addressed through the management and measurement of data quality. 

2) Party Master and Reference Data is managed and available centrally for multiple applications.

3) Issues are resolved through stakeholder engagement and by providing the necessary support and training to data users.

Resolve data quality problems:
• Identify, assess, fix, document and communicate potential quality issues in the way data is collected, stored, processed or used. 
• This may involve interacting with business users to resolve data quality problems using root cause analysis and collecting user requirements. 
• Fixing the data problem may require the DQA to recommend, design, implement and monitor quality procedures for use in the data production process. 
• It also includes data cleansing operations. 

Resolve Master Data and Reference Data issues:

• Identify, assess, fix, document and communicate issues related to master and reference data.
• This will involve working with the data architecture team to establish the target state for Master Data. 
Provide data quality and Master Data advisory services to the organization: 

• Participate in cross-functional teams and development/improvement task forces. 
• Assist other groups in database setup, design of edit checks, test plans, policy decisions, etc. to ensure data quality and MDM objectives are met. 

Measure data quality:
• Design, collect, analyse and report on data quality assurance / production performance metrics. 

Manage data quality and MDM documentation: 
• Define and maintain data standards, definitions, and models (e.g. data dictionary, organizational data model. This may also include any documents such as checklists, guidelines, manuals, templates, forms, etc.) 

Provide data quality and MDM training: 
• Provide data quality and MDM training and presentations to members of the organization

• Document the return on investment of data quality and MDM activities through documenting the contribution to other projects. 
• Analyse the return on the use of quality data.





• Tertiary Qualification (IT) 
• CDMP – Certified Data Management Professional NQF 8 (masters level) - Advantageous
• DMBOK (Data Management Book Of Knowledge – self-study) from DAMA - Advantageous


• 3 – 5 years’ experience in a Data Quality/Master Data Management role 
• 3 – 5 years’ experience in Advanced SQL
